some recent het albinos

Warren_Booth Jul 25, 2007 03:17 PM

Here are a few pictures of some of my recent het albino litter. I will post some from the second litter later. The father of this litter is a Chris Gillam new line male to a Black eyed, orange/yellow female. The babies are simply stunning and have all fed multiple times. I just have to select my hold backs now.

Enjoy

I have never heard of a third line of albinos. Do you have any pics? Is it compatible with either Sharps or Kahls?

Hi,
The history behind the line, from what I have been told, is this. In around 2000, Chris Gillam in the Uk imported 1.1 albinos direct from colombia. These were said to be a new line and were comparable in appearance to Pete Kahl's line of albinos. He bred the male to a het albino (Kahl strain) female in 2003 and produced a litter of albinos and hets, proving the compatability. I acquired a male and bred it to a a normal female and a het kahl. The normal female dropped a healthy litter and the het dropped premature litter of 49. I saved three, sadly none of the albinos survived.
So, with fresh genes from a wild caught/cf albino line from Colombia which is compatable with Pete's line, this will hopefully help reduce the instances of eye defects in the future. Fresh genes are always good. The great thing about this litter is that it is female heavy and the offspring are stunning.
A picture of the male is below.
