Eggs denting question.....

phiber_optikx Jul 25, 2007 07:59 PM

A few of my eggs are denting in and they have about 7 days to go. I know this is fairly normal since it is close to hatch and they could come early. But there are one or two that have been dented in for over a week so around day 40-45. Is this sometimes normal? They are still white but fairly dented in. One has one or two very small brown spots on it but still seems good. Of course I will hold onto them until they are completely rotten. I just wanted some advice. I am getting ansy!

I had some dent in around the same time...40-45 days, and they have now hatched out healthy snows. I wouldnt worry about it to much as long as they dont turn green and start to smell. Just my Opinion.

congrats on the almost full term clutch! There's no easy way to tell if a good baby is in the egg or not. Even good looking eggs can have dead fully formed babies. But the majority of the time those eggs that dented in weeks early still go on to hatch babies that are perfectly fine and feisty! Had a few of those myself this year. Kept asking, geez, how much more can it dent in and still have a baby? They hatched fine. Might have been a bit low on humidity for those eggs, but that's a tough call.
