Feeding in a tub?

MannyRottie Jul 25, 2007 08:00 PM

I just put my baby spider female in a 14 quart tub. In a week or so I will try to feed her. Should I just put the fuzzy rat in there with her? I have been told by some to take her out and feed her in seperate quarters. I can't see this being beneficial. Would you guys feed her in the tub? I think that is what makes the most sense. Thanks

I feed all of my snakes inside their enclosures. Its pointless to transfer them to a separate one, it just stresses them out before and after eating.

Thats what I thought...my little girl hasn't eatten yet. I am planning on throwing a fuzzy rat in there and closing the lid for about 2 hours. Hopefully in that time she will pig out! Keeping my fingers crossed.

Try shutting all the lights off or putting a blanket over the tub -- my babies tend to prefer darkness to eat.

I feed all mine in their tubs, too. I also agree with feeding in the dark. I have a couple snakes that are shy and there's no way they would eat with the lights on.

I've got one that doesn't like white rats..so i have to feed her with the light on...otherwise she thinks i am trying to fool her...

Seriously though, don't move a ball before you offer it food.

(Who wants a snake that wants to eat when you take it out anyway..I never understood the reasoning to that part of the myth.)
