How can I tell if I'm feeding him too much? Too often? What is the right way?

That's a tough one...it really depends on a lot of factors. Age, activity level, temperature of the enclosure, whether you hibernate or not, whether females are bred or not, and what you are feeding all play a role.

One crude way to determine obesity is whether or not the turtle can enclose within its shell completely. A healthy box turtle should be able to completely withdraw within its shell. Getting a tame box turtle to do this, however, isn't always so easy.

A picture or two may help if you have the means.
