(Very nice tigers too!)

Is this a hybrid with a white sided brooksi? The look of it seems to stray away from a pure milk in my opinion.

tedmolekings Jul 26, 2007 09:59 AM

NO it is not a hybrid! I despise hybrids and I would not have one in my collection. This is a pure Eastern Milk Snake. There is a picture of the original wild-caught White-sided in Dr.Bechtel's book "Reptile and Amphibian Variants" Krieger Publishing Company 1995.

jawn Jul 26, 2007 11:22 AM

That is one very strange/good looking milk then! Never heard of this trait. Good luck with your breeding! Its too bad we can't keep Eastern's in Ontario.

erikm Jul 26, 2007 12:48 PM

DOH... I totally forgot Eastern's are native here... awww man that is a bummer!@

you wouldnt even need to ask that question! And strange? The only "strange" thing about it is that its an eastern milk snake with uhh white sides!

Jeff Schofield Jul 28, 2007 10:07 AM

How are you there big guy? Shoot me an email, going to Daytona? Jeff

erikm Jul 26, 2007 10:15 AM

morphs and espescially when it has taken so long. The whitewall speckled kings also took many many years to hit the market.

White Sided is an awesome trait. The Speckled King was something I had to have, I was lucky to get them from Terry V in 2004. This Milk has some awesome contrast. Can't wait to see that in a year or two. Tom Stevens

Nice snake! Do you have any photos of the albino adult, I am interested in seeing to compare to.

chuckster Jul 26, 2007 03:21 PM

Like I said on Sunday Ted thats one hell of a snake. That project has been in the making for a long time.Their is no crosses in that animal. It is strictly a pure Eastern Milksnake.

Tony D Jul 26, 2007 05:32 PM

That's pretty cool Ted. Now get busy with the hypo mole cause its even neater looking!!

Chris Jones Jul 31, 2007 09:39 AM

....but not like this triangulum.

Again, just an opinion.

Only mine is just the correct one

Chris

tedmolekings Aug 02, 2007 12:01 PM

Do you really think so? You know I love mole kings, but I like this a lot more. I am beginning to wonder about the hypo molekings...that "het" that I got on breeding loan from Larry R. years in 98 may not be heterozygous. I have bred poss. het to poss. het to poss het, etc. many times over the last 7 years, I produced some pretty moles but no hypos.

Uk_Hybrids Jul 26, 2007 07:26 PM

Thats a stunning Eastern, congratulations on your work with the trait.
The W/S genetics seem to be poppin up everywhere these last few years,we had a campbelli dead in the egg last year that was showing the trait, the same breeding proved nothing this year, hopfully we will get the genetics to show its self again next year.

Paul.

Thats just what Triangulum needed to boost it's popularity.I've kept them in the past and hatched them and always said they were an underated snake.Looking farward to seeing this project expand.
Keep us posted and I will stop by and say hi at Hamburg.

Ted, is it male or female?? J

tedmolekings Aug 02, 2007 11:55 AM

Hey Jeff, its a girl. Her two clutch mates are both males. They are all great feeders too, live pinks, no scenting.

Gaboonx Jul 31, 2007 09:41 PM

Ted,

I noticed on your website that you are located in New Freedom I am located in Jacobus, you don't happen to give speeches at Nixon Park do you?

Nice snake BTW...

Too bad you wasted 23 years producing something not anywhere near as pretty as Mother Nature had already provided us!!

shannon brown Aug 01, 2007 08:44 PM

the animal that later produced this one. Are you just a troll or something? I don't see any posts by your screen name on here until you have something negative to say.
Ted is a very dedicated herper and hobbyist and what he did is great for our Hobby.

skales7 Aug 02, 2007 12:07 AM

Name calling? From a person who can't seem to spell naturE? You may think what has been done is good for the hobby, when all it is good for is somebody's pocketbook and ego. It is just sad that you folks are now a majority in a hobby that once was proud and caring about the animals, not just what a name they could make for themselves. As far as having negative things to say, this isn't a mutaul admiration society. If you don't want to read my posts, DON'T!! Peace and have fun screwing up more animals genetic lines.

tedmolekings Aug 02, 2007 11:51 AM

You can't spell either, this is how you spell mutual. Breeding morphs is good for the hobby. Eastern Milk snakes have long been an underrated snake, morphs like this will help create more interest in this species. Morphs are especially important to people like me, who live in a state where it is not legal to keep "normal" Easterns. I am allowed to keep white-sides and their hets, albinos and any other morphs that may come up.
Most "morphs" that we have in the hobby are here because they were found in the WILD. Albino and Pied Ball pythons have been found in Africa since the 1960's, breeding populations of Albino Rosy Boas and Cal Kings, and melanistic Garters have all been found. Gravid adult albino females have been found that produced albino offspring, that means that they were bred by Heterozygous animals. So your comment about screwing up genetics is FALSE.
BTW, I personally only spent 4 years on the project, if you read the article you would know that.
Thanks to Shannon and all the people that had positive comments!

GabooNx Aug 02, 2007 12:50 PM

Do you have any pets? If you have any species of cat, dog, bird, or a domesticated animal then you are preaching contradiction, how do you think blood lines are created? We play god because we pick and choose what we like in animals and breed them to other animals that look the same or act the same way, we have been doing it for thousands of years.

What we do as a hobby can and does save wild populations of reptiles, do you think we are responsible for creating these mutant genes? No we just selectively breed what Mother Nature already gave us. If you had read the article instead of trolling you would have seen that this was a WILD CAUGHT animal originally…

yea dont be so negative that is a beutiful animal that traces back from nature and was hardwork to produce

wisema2297 Aug 04, 2007 06:36 PM

I really do not believe anyone wants to read anything you have to wright. You are a waste of time!! Go away!!

Congrats Ted. I heard about this about a month ago but was told to keep my mouth shut!!! Glad to finally see pics.

wisema2297 Aug 04, 2007 06:37 PM

Go ahead, I gave you something else to gripe about!!

lampropeltiskid9 Aug 04, 2007 06:37 AM

wow that is really beutiful congrats =]i got to start breeding my easterns now i need a male.

skales7 Aug 05, 2007 12:14 AM

It's funny how little it takes to get people all in an uproar. It's horrible if someone doesn't follow the party line and just agree. I like to play the devil's advocate to see if I can get people to TRY and think outside the lines. One of these days someone will step up and say: "Yep, I did it to get my name noticed." or "I knew this would bring me some cash down the line." There are more of this type of people out there than most of you seem to think. I just want to see if one of them is brave enough to admit it here.
I have been keeping reptiles and other animals for about 45 years now and even I enjoy some of the morphs. So everybody, just take a chill pill and remember, we live where it is okay to have any type of belief and the right to express it, even if it seems widely out of favor.
And yes, I do spell skales wrong, because it gets noticed. Isn't that the reason behind most screen/user names? DUH!
