Blood won't dump!!!!!!!!!!!

Sankofa Jul 26, 2007 12:29 PM

A couple of months ago I posted about my blood's lack of bowel movements. She had gone six months without a dump. I was feeding her large/jumbo frozen rats weekly. She always had fresh water and the temps and humidity were correct according to the hygrometer and thermometer. I took her to the vet. When the vet began the check-up by attempting to look in my blood's mouth, the snake began to defecate as snakes do when agitated. Me and the vet massaged the feces and urates out of her. The vet said my blood had been impacted from dehydratiion. My blood pushed out golf ball sized urates and then baby bottle sized feces. I remarked that I kept fresh water in the tank and the humidity remained around 70%. She said that it'd be a good idea to begin soaking her regularly, and I should look into buying a bigger tank. My snake had just gotten to the point of needing a bigger tank, so I know that lack of space didn't contribute to constipation. I'm also aware that it's a good idea to soak bloods, however in my experiences that wasn't necessarily mandatory if the humidity in the enclosure was correct. Anyway, I took the vet's advice and I must say my snake shed in one piece and even defecated two weeks later. That was mid-June. She's eaten 4-5 times since then. This past Sunday she ate a medium sized rabbit. It's going on two months since the last bowel movement. I'm getting worried again. She's in a newly purchased T13 Animal Plastics tank. She has plenty space. Also, there's a tub inside big enough for her to soak in but she won't soak. I really don't think it's a hydration issue. after all, bloods will definitely soak if they're feeling dry....right? Animals in general will make the proper adjustments if the resources are available. The water is there. Your remarks will be GREATLY appreiciated.

How big is she, and what is your feeding scedule? You said she's eaten five times in the last month and the last time was a medium rabbit... are you feeding her rabbits weekly? If so, that's way, way, too much and that's why she got impacted. Also, how large are the medium rabbits you're feeding her (in lbs)?
