OT... Yesterday's babies

miloradovich Jul 26, 2007 01:42 PM

Hello all, been a while since I posted anything. I've been swamped at work and haven't even been albe to check the forum let alone contribute. Add that on top of my umpcoming wedding in now all of 9 days I feel like I don't even have time to breath. Thought I'd take a break from everything though, and show off yesterdays litter.

For those of you that remember when I posted the above picture of one of my het leopard pairs earlier in the year, here is the outcome. (sorry for the poor pic)

Total of 8 live babies and 1 still born. Of the eight 2 are dark leopards, as you can see. This is the first time I have ever seen leopards in person so I'm very anxious to see how they look after they shed and as they mature. They were born a little premature but so far so good.

In other news, the final count of the rainbow litter that I had turned out to be 15 not 14, once I got them all seperated and counted. All have shed fine and now eaten 2 meals with the majority taking F/T already. I'll get some updated pictures posted sooner or later.

Congrats to everyone who is having litters and best of luck to those still waiting.
Milo

Congrats on the nuptials, take good care of her and it'll come back tenfold to you. My wife is the center of my universe, don't know whjat I'd ever do without her!!! Pushing 20 years of marriage and she still warms my heart, just being in the same room!!!!!

My wife Desiree and I are very blessed, totally in love and the fire is still strong. People still ask us when the honeymoon will be over!! I wish this kind of love for everyone, although like you said, we rarely see it anywhere but between us!

It's funny, we love and trust each other so much there is no jealosy. I used to have a friend Kelli (passed away from breast cancer a few years back, very sad loss) who camped with us for many years with her daughters and sometimes husband. They had that stormy on again off again type relationship and he'd be there about every other year. This was a large group of friends and family, some years 10 plus families. Well Kelli was that cute bubbly blond type who flirted without even knowing it. The other wives pulled Desiree aside and told her to watch out for Kelli with her husband. Desiree just laughed, she knew she had nothing to worry about.

Yeah, sorry for the bad picture. I'll get updated one's once they shed. The leopard trait originated with Hans Winner of Germany from normal looking Sonoran boas. He's got some good pics of leopards on his site and info about them. I believe it's hjwinner.com. Also cuttingedgeherp.com has a couple of good pics and info. Check them out.

Thanks Dave,
It's awsome to hear stories of long time married couples whose feelings are just as strong as when they got married. You'd be suprised how many people have warned me not to get married just because theirs didn't work out. I know she's the one for me though, and like you said of your wife, I don't know what I'd do without my fiancee either. We're really the best of friends and our families get along great which is a huge plus since we're both really family oriented. I have actually been close to her family since long before we started dating and our parents get together regularly. Unfortunatly, what brought us together was the loss of my best friend and fellow snake enthusiast who was her brother. I guess it just goes to show you that good can come from even the worst situations.

As for pics, I'll keep them coming. Of both the rainbow litter and the leopards as they grow. I was reading through Vin Russo's, Boa Constrictor Manual (great book by the way, highly recommend) and he shows pics of four different types of leopard boas. Just by how dark my two are now, I'd would guess that I have the melanistic variety but he's also got a shot of an "Inca Stars and Stripes" litter just after birth and there are some real dark ones in there. Mine do appear to have a tail pattern similiar to that of the Inca adult pictured. Guess I'll just have to wait and see. You know how much newborns change after their first shed.

And yeah "extra babies" rule!

Take care, Milo

I'll definately post updated pics after they shed. I was pretty suprised to see just how dark they were. I am intested to see if they lighten up at all or stay dark with time.
Here's a pic for you of just the two of them. It shows their patterns a little better. Some of the possible hets have pretty cool patterns too. It's hard to see but in my first picture, the one curled up to the upper right has a nice striped pattern. I would be willing to bet he/she's a het.

Take care, Milo

Well I would keep the both of them for sure, awesome job and congrats again, please repost for sure.

Congrats first off Milo and didn't you just pick up a pair of those het leopards from Susq. Ecotherms? or was that somebody else on the forum? Congrats either way and the boa gods were right on with the numbers so no complaints and what are your plans with those bad boys or girls? hope the dancing lessons are coming along nicelylol take care and best of luck to you and your soon to be wife Jason

Good memory Bob, I did get a pair from Susquehanna Ectotherms recently. The parents of this litter though came from Gaintkeeper reptiles and were produced by Dragon herp. My newest pair aren't breeding size yet but I can't wait to see their babies in the future. As for plans with them, I'm not really sure yet. I'll probably hang on to the two leopards and a couple of the more drastically patterned possible hets. I am really interested to see how they look as they mature.
