Poopy question

waspinator421 Jul 26, 2007 02:08 PM

Today Vermillion shed and laid a huge terd. I noticed that there was about 1-2 teaspoons of blood with her poop. Is this normal? She seems absolutely fine, this is just the first time I have ever seen blood in snake poop.

That does NOT sound OK to me, other than birthing slime and it's associated mix of bodily fluids, I've never seenm any blood in any of my snakes cages (other than bleeder feeder's)

1 - 2 teaspoons sounds like a lot, if it were me I'd be taking a sample of it to the vet!

Ok, so I just got back from the vet. I took a sample in to get checked out and they didn't find any internal parasites. The vet said that if I see it happen again, to bring her in along with another fecal sample.

Hopefully this won't happen again. Just seems wierd that they came up with nothing since Dave said he's never seen it in his snakes before. At least no parasites is good news.

Hmmmmm, did you say large turd? maybe over stretched the rectum and made a small tear??? Just guessing. Sounds like all you can do is kep a close watch and see what develops, hopefully nothing beyond a grey hair or two.
