health advice needed please

CLizKeeper Jul 27, 2007 11:22 AM

hello just wondering if any of you experienced lizard keepers could give us some advice please. After having sold some of our latest babies to local reptile centre, here in the UK, I popped in today and was told one of them was ill. Poor Thunder has problem with his tail. It has shrivelled to 2cm from body. I've brought him home to attempt to save his life but unfortunately the only reptile vet has moved from our area. I'm treating tail with F10 germicidal barrier ointment. what else should I be doing?

What specifically is wront with his tail? If it is F10 you are using I am assuming some sort of infection. Where abouts are you? As a fellow Brit I could ask some pals if they know of a decent vet in your area, or the closest one to you

Sometimes when they get an injured tail even if it's a small area, if it is not taken care of it will get infected, the skin /tail dies and it spreads up the tail. Not being able to see it or know what happened it's hard for anyone who is not a Vet to help you!

If it has shriveled that much it should be looked at, they may remove it. Let us know how he does!
