I have a red tail boa that is almost four months old. I received him earlier this month -- he ate his first meal with me just fine... I tried to feed him yesterday and he didn't eat -- I had him out today and looked closely at his face -- his jaw seems swollen or out of place a little on his right side --- what could this be caused by?? It wasn't like that when I got him. any suggestions or advice would be appreciated!!!

How long since last feed ?
Has the animal been striking the cage ?
Any reasons for the possibilty of teeth getting removed ?
Have you opened the animals mouth to see if there is anything stuck in there(substrate) ?

You have have more info besides what you provided . . . . .
So to answer your question on advise
Take it to a Vet !

actually I just took him out again to get another look and it's back to normal. I will keep an eye on him to see if it happens again but... maybe he yawned when I wasn't looking and put his jaw back into place? it just looked very strange at the time and when I opened his mouth it didn't go back to normal.
maybe he was just making faces at me.
sorry to jump the gun on that one but he's my little baby and I was worried..

the last time he ate was last thursday...and i use paper towels for his cage for now to help keep track of his health since he is new to my family...
