Green Tree Pythons vs Emerald Tree Boas

nydiamond Jul 27, 2007 12:35 PM

Hey everyone,
I work at a pet store and we recently received a snake that was thought to be a green tree python. Oddly enough the man said he bought it from another store for $600. After visiting the other store I noticed that their Emerald tree boa babys were listed as $600 whereas the green tree pythons were only $375. The guy looked like he had no idea what he was doing anyway, so he could have been lying but that brings me to the question....

What are the major differences in apperance (if any) between Green Tree Pythons and Emerald Tree Boas?

I'll try to post a picture if possible. The lil guy was stuck in a double shed, but hes pretty red-orange in color, and very nasty.

In the tree boa, the pits are *between* the supralabial scales, whereas in the tree python, they are *within" the supralabial scales. As a result, the entire upper lip of the tree boa looks a bit like a radiator grille, whereas it looks much more normal in the python. The photo shows a tree boa.

Cheers,
