but Dave uses melamine board and his q-rack was built from scraps I believe
Bob
The Q-rack was built from scraps from the other racks I built a while back. It's made from 6 pieces all 18" x 24". Since I use sheet goods, none of the edges are finished so I apply edge banding to the raw particle board edges but only where needed. The fronts of all the shelves and sides and the tops and bottoms of the sides. So, all 6 pieces are edge banded on one long edge and two are also edge banded on both short sides. Shelves are spaced so I can slide tubs (without lids) in and out with minimal gap and lastly I cut one more scrap as a filler under the bottom shelf. Measured after assembly.
Almost forgot, one more piece of thin stuff for the back, whatever you have laying around.
