Norcal get together recap

edkim Jul 29, 2007 02:59 AM

So we finally got to have our Norcal get together. We ended up having a bbq and poker game. I was stoked about the turnout and I had a great time.

Anyways, on with the pictures. Here's a group shot we took. Mike(BelgianBeer) actually showed up later so he wasn't able to get in the shot. Staring from the left is me, Alex Barreiro (BoaRepublic), Justin Higgs (Ectothermz), Ruben Michael, Brett Thacker (bthacker or rockford), Matt Crabe (mdc), Rich (Snake-Shack), Bao (redtailbao), Ben, and in the front is Nick Stone. Unfortunately Derek Yagi and Shane Kinney couldn't make it after being stuck in traffic for an hour.

here's a pic of the two lovely ladies who helped me setup the bbq, my girlfriend and her little sister.

my girlfriend's little sister about to have a seizure.

some dessert my girlfriend made for the bbq. it's only fitting that they be snake cakes lol.

here's a pic of the guys ready to toss their hard earned cash to me in a game of poker. you can see mike on the left.

here's big baller alex reminding us who makes the big bucks around here. lol jk. he's actually a really nice modest guy.

and on to the star of the bbq, ruben michael. i swear this guy can drink like a fish. i don't know how half of these pictures showed up on my camera.

here he is getting warmed up with a new castle.

moving on... i don't know where he learned it from, but i didn't have the heart to break it to him that people usually drink one beer at a time.

and on... you can tell these are different times by the light outside.

and on... this one was a special one for Shane Kinney. Shane Kinney's prediction in a previous post came true. Ruben in his wifebeater talking about sharps all night? who woulda guessed!

Anyways I had a great time finally meeting everyone. Thanks for all who made it out and the people who tried. Hopefully next time we can find a date that's good for everyone. I'm definitely looking forward to setting up more in the future.

Thanks for looking.

Eddie:

It looks like everyone had a great time.

Santa Cruz was beautiful. The water was flat, the weather was fantastic and we even caught a few fish.

Hopefully I'll be able to make it to the next meeting.

Looks like a great time. Nothing like getting together in person, swapping stories and swapping cash

Hey Brian,

Good to hear from you. I've lived in Santa Cruz for 5 years and I was never able to catch a decent fish, but then again it was always pier fishing.

Hopefully you'll be able to make the next one. I'm looking forward to it.

Hi Eddie,
It's too bad Derek and I didn't make it because it definitely looked like a good time. Highway 80 west was really a parking lot as far as we could see! There's always next time!

Thanks Eddie, the food was great, its hard to believe that the first time you ever bbqed, sorry I couldn't stay longer, it still ended up taking us a couple of hours to get home, but it wasn't as bad as on the way down there. It was cool to finally meet a bunch of people in person too. I am looking forward to the next time we can all get together again. Thanks, Nick

great time. Great to see everyone and meet the others. A big thanks to Eddie for putting this together. You went above and beyond my friend. Really great job. We have to do this more often. Sorry I wasn't able to stay for poker. (Hopefully you took Rube's money)

Eddie, I was the one taking pictures of ruben with your camera. I was trying to get him in his natural element (near a heaping plate of meat).

I had a great time and thanks for making it out. It was fun talking with you all.

Hey Derek,
I'm sorry you and Shane couldn't make it. I wish I had told you to take the other route. I'm down for Tahoe. If you guys want, I can try and set it up, I still have all the contact info.

Thanks again guys.

Looks like fun times!
Sorry I had to miss it... next time! (looks like more fun than the garlic festival was, that's for sure!)

Great fun Eddie! I wish I could have stayed longer. Do I owe Rubin $10? Did he do the hot sauce shot? We have to do it again soon, and sometime when I can party a little more and not have to take off and drive 150 miles an hour into the fun!

Nice set-up you have. You need to post new pics of that red beauty you have!

I’m up for Tahoe if something is planned!

edkim Jul 30, 2007 01:49 PM

Thanks Rich. It was great having you there. Ruben backed out of the bet. Sorry you couldn't stay longer, but I'll get cracking on the Tahoe trip. Seems like there is a lot of interest.

After you posted those pictures, I’m sure more people want to go! I think we should all supply the food this time. You did an outstanding job, it was quite a spread, and we should treat you next time.
Thanks again.
