I use papertowels as a substrate. Is it ok to use thise for adults as well. I never use anything else, but I do have astroturf for reptiles. I might use it but I do not want to fix what is not broken.

Seems like a lot of paper towels to go through. And also seems like they would be hard to keep in place with an adult moving around on them. But it is definitely a very effective and efficient substrate. Much better than the astroturf. That stuff is not easy to clean. If it's a choice between the 2, stick with the paper towels. My preferred substrate is aspen.
Yeah..it's to flimsy for adults.I swap them over to newspaper once they outgrow my hatchling rack tubs.

I personally think that the 'turf' is harmful to the snake. One cannot get it clean (unless you scrub it forever of put it in a washing machine which is not practical) and you will have a bacteria farm in no time which could result in a sick snake.
Like what was already stated, you will find that most keepers/breeders keep their snakes on newspaper. You can also get the ink free paper like what is sold at moving company places (U-Haul) which I have been kown to use before. The overall cost is far less than paper towels, easy to clean up and replace, and you just give the cage a simple wipedowl with diluted bleach water.
I might have said this before, more is not always better. In other words, I am a believer that less IS more.
I am sure you already read all this though, but I thought I would throw in my opinion.

I love this stuff, and I would never use anything else. It's sanitary, doesn't smudge like regular newspaper, easy to see when they've urinated, and easy to change out -- just take out the old, spray with Novalsan, wipe out with a paper towel, and put in the new piece. I bought a huge stack of unprinted pre-cut newspaper sheets (24" x 36"
for $60 from ULINE back in December 2006 -- I still have tons of it left and that's with regular cage changes for 15-20 ball pythons.
