Poor looking ETB at a pet store

blueta Jul 29, 2007 06:03 PM

I just figured I would let everyone know that I went to a certain pet store around here and saw one very sad looking ETB. Being a previous owner of an ETB I know what requirements they need. Basically it was in something like a 30 or 38 gallon, NO branches except for one laying ON THE GROUND, cat litter box for water (seriously), nothing on top of the aquarium to keep humidity in. The snake is an adult, which is probably wild caught. It was up and crawling around in mid day (probably hasn't eaten in a long time). Looks a little thin from what I saw. I wish I had the $$ cause I would gladly take him home and give him a home he deserves (I have the $$/equipment for care, but not the $$ to purchase one outright right now). I really miss my old emerald (who passed away from old age), and want another one so badly and this just broke my heart Just had to vent cause it pissed me off badly. On a side note they had a tank of mantellas (I've owned them along with PDF's previously too), with LARGE CRICKETS. Jeeze...

Theres a pet store here in my area that has 2 baby ETB's that are in really sad shape as well ...the setup their in is decent, except no way for humidity and heat to stay in.... I asked about them, and all the teenager in charge of the reptile department said was that they ''weren't eating good'' ...they were really thin and still had pieces of old shed still stuck to them...sad sad shape, I don't think pet stores should take on certain types of snakes if they can't handle the care requirements...it's sad.
