moonglow vs. snow

mpollard Jul 29, 2007 09:40 PM

Does anyone have (or know where I can find) a snow pictured next to a moonglow? I've seen pics of both, but with different lighting, backgrounds, etc. its hard to really compare and contrast the two. Are they visually different? I know the moonglow is hypo, but if they are both lacking black and red completely, what does one look for?

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Mark

Dont have a picture for you, but maybe I can clear it up.

If you look at the difference between a hypo and a normal you see that on the tail blotches there is significantly less black (or none) boardering. You are looking for the same in a moonglow but rather then looking for black you are looking for where the black would be. The markings on a snow and moonglow where the red and black pigments would be are different shades (to me the black appears more translucent or 'see through').

Hopefully this helps.

Well I thought I had a pic of them together saved. I guess not or I can't find it. From my understanding and talking to a few folks about the samething this is how I understand it. Snows tend to yellow-up as they mature and the Moonglows do not nearly as much. Moonglows are a form of Hypo Snow. I do have a few recent pics of a Moonglow owned by Mark Miller from about two weeks ago at a reptile expo. The pic was taken by a friend Linda.

Notice the eyes on this one. I believe the eyes are slightly diffrent in color as well. Sorry I couldn't help you more on this subject. I'm sure someone else can though.

Well did it give you anymore info about them to answer your question of sorts better? There is somewhere a picture of what you and I were wanting to see, a comparison shot.

Don't forget that your Moonglows are supposed to be "Albino X Anery X Hypo" and the Snows are just "Albino X Anery". The diference looks like a comparison to an Anery versus a Ghost but in an albino form.
