Does this look gravid at all?

jasonmattes Jul 29, 2007 10:50 PM

There is a chance she could be gravid. I had her paired up with a male for awhile but didn't see any breeding action, doesn't mean they didn't I just didn't see it.
She hasn't eaten for probably 2 months which is not normal for her in the summer. She goes off feed in the winter but has always eaten well in the summer.
She doesn't really look gravid to me but thought someone with more experience might see something different.

She honestly doesn't look gravid, but I wouldn't give up yet (I'm not sure what the gestation is on this species). I've had many snakes that I didn't think were gravid drop babies, and I've had a few that I just *knew* were gravid that never panned out that season.

If she was gravid I would expect to seem more distention down toward the tail end of the body instead of the tapering that she has, but as mentioned, it is just a guess.

If I remember correctly gestation can be anywhere from 4-6 months. So if she is gravid its entirely possible that she has several months to go.

Norpacs usually drop babies in July and August in the Bay Area, sometimes in September. That snake may be carrying a small litter so I wouldnt call your bets off yet.

the babies are very cute
