Sick ball python please Help!!!

iwish7284 Jul 30, 2007 01:03 AM

I had him out today crawling around my bed and all of a sudden he dropped urine deposits along with A LOT of orangish yellow liquid... He is about a year and a half old. It seemed to be the equivelent of human diarrhea. I'm going to make an appointment with a vet tomorrow but any information or suggestions/possible diagnosis will help. Im extremely worried. This hasn't happened before.

Well first the urates are condensed urine and will very in color from white to yellow but I think what your talking about is in fact a louse stool that can be caused by a bacteria load in the rodent it was fed . And will more than likely will pass on it’s own, but I would take it to your Vet. Just to make shore . I have seen this happen a few times in the past . David of DS Reptile Rescue

Urates are condensed calcium, ball pythons have liquid pee too. Every single one in my collection urinates and it is always light yellow to dark yellow, just like any other animal. This is what this guy is talking about. Diarrhea would be brown and would look like...well, diarrhea.

I’m sorry I was more focused on the oranges description and not taking into consideration the rest of the description , its hard to gather what someone’s is trying to say , if we could just see what they see . And as fore the urine and urates yes it is concentrated calcium and liquids but it is the same thing you find in most urine it just depends on the amounts of calcium and other trace minerals that they have taken in and how much they retain that determines the amount of urates . If I failed to go into enough detail the first time I apologize and hope this time was more appropriately . Thanks David of DS Reptile Rescue
