mulberry leaves/chow - safe? leaving jackson alone...

iso Aug 19, 2003 12:57 PM

hi all

I need to leave my home for 4 days. I am getting a misting system working before I leave. I know that for 3 days he will go without me opening his cvage to offer food.

I was wondering..if I put 10 or so silkworms in a feeder cup with some mulberry chow...just so he can have a treat while Im away...

would the chow be harmful if swallowed?

Or would I be better off letting him go without..maybe give him extra food over the next week to prepare for a few days of famine...

The chow is not harmful - it is only leaves ground up. If the worms eat the chow and then the cham eats the worms... see where I am going here?

Leaving some chow and silkworms is a good idea. But here is a tip: place a small grate under the worms/chow... so the worm droppings fall through to the bottom of the cup. You can do this with some plastic sewing canvas (hobby/craft store).

However it certainly shouldn't hurt the cham to go hungry for a few days - if it is young adult or older. Be sure to regulate the misters so you don't have a flood to come home to.

Nobody to babysit the cham?
Just a friend who can check on him once per day?
