Looks great! I watched a DIY show once, with an annoying host, not Bob Vila, on how to build an assembly table. How did you do the guts? Did you do half laps (?) on the ribs?

I see plans for a bottom shelf too with a little bit of rabbeting

The top torsion box has 3/4" ply on a 7" grid. The 6 long pieces go the entire length. The two ends go the entire width and than the remainder is 7" stock nailed and glued in the same grid. I built one row at a time it is very strong and with the top and bottom MDF nailed and glued she will stay true for a long time.

Actually to save on cost and to try some new ply techniques the legs and beams are all simulated timber built out of ply. So the rabbets are actual built not cut.

Planing and turning lumber while it may be a fun aspect of the hobby was not something I wanted to accomplish without a table. Ironically to build a true flat torsion box its best to start with a true flat torsion box, negating the purpose of building a torsion box. I myself used winding sticks....

I never built one of those, I just use my table saw top. Very flat and large enough for all my projects so far.

Also, don't have room for another table. And in my garage, would just collect junk until I needed it and had to clear it off!

Well, Dave my new Boa Cages will be 80" x 24" x 24" so I needed a big assembly table. Also when i work i typically will cut wood fro 3 projects at a time having a big table helps me orginize and cut pieces. Than I will stack band and store the parts till necessary.

Actually I have another shelving project to work on to allow the storing of awaiting projects.

It may sound weird but I receycle a lot of wood and now that I have a my big jointer up and running I can turn wood into usable material. Typically I salvage wood and come up with projects later.

Orginization is key in any small place, and mobile bases are only convienent when you have a place to store. So inevatablly a big table doesn't work in most shops. Personnaly I wish I had a few more, but i don't have the room.

I don't look forward to ever having to move the monster but its very stable.

Thanks for looking
