My CRB pair...

JenHarrison Jul 31, 2007 03:22 AM

Routine cleaning tonight and had these two out for a swim while I cleaned their tubs -- I find it interesting how they're only a year different in age but yet Mercedes has kept a lot of her patterning while Pablo has grown out of almost all of his. I wonder how she'll match up when she's the same size as her mate? I love these two, can't get enough of them. I can hardly wait to see a pile of squirmy babies from them next year.

Damn, my CRB is so much darker then any of those, your CRB's look burgandy or "brick" colored. Mine looks plain brown, or even purple or something.

good looking snakes! Wish i had a mate for mine.

Gorgeous CRBs, especially your female! Good luck with breeding them.

I still have to sex mine before I get a mate.

Oh yea, Bob, keep your mouth shut if you're reading this....

Thanks for sharing Jen and it's nice to see something other than some Brazilians. Don't quote me on this but I think about two years of age they seem to lose their pattern but I'm not 100% sure, best of luck with those beauties

Well, Pablo is 4 years old and Mercedes is 5 -- she just wasn't fed very much (1 mouse per week). Since she's been with me, she's been a fantastic rat eater so I have no doubts that she'll be up to size to breed. Maybe she's going to keep her pattern? I hope so!

cuz they are putting on some age I was thinking they were like 1 and 2 or 2 and 3 but that late in the game I hope the pattern stays too cuz pattern is cool

It was only by luck that I found my girl -- she was posted on reptileauctions.com and it just happened that the seller was in Verona, about 10 miles from me. I jumped on it quick and am so glad I did -- she's a beautiful specimen with a great pattern, very smooth flawless skin, and the coolest glittering green eyes. My male has jet black eyes so I wonder which version will be passed on.

My male was free, I adopted him from someone on another forum who couldn't get him to eat and didn't want to deal with his shedding issues. Since he's been with me, he's been wolfing down prekilled weaned rats and just needs some help getting his skin off.

I love these guys, they are quickly becoming a big favorite in my collection. Everybody has ball pythons and everybody has Brazilian rainbows, but not too many people have Colombian rainbows. That makes them really interesting and hopefully they breed for me -- although I may end up keeping all the babies. LOL!

I want to set up a really nice display vivarium for them in my livingroom, one big enough where they could comfortably live together and have all sorts of stuff to climb on, a pool, etc. They're both really outgoing compared to my ball pythons so I think they'd like to be kept busy with a home like that.

that sounds like a great idea for a viv. i'm looking into building my CRB a new viv that will last her the rest of her life, hopefully. i also want to make it cool for her to explore and soak and for me to look at

just looking into designs and supplies adds a whole new element to keeping CRBs as pets and i can't wait to get started building. hopefully by then i'll also have a digital camera so i can post pictures of it here.

Jen,
...Nice looking maurus. This is a PIC of two of mine from about 10 years ago.
