My King needs furniture

EddieF Jul 31, 2007 06:35 PM

We have our King in a 30 breeder and it seems to me like she would like a piece of wood running along the back wall she can hide behind when going from cool to warm hiding places.

When I'm out fishing by the river I see all kinds of driftwood - not super cool ocean driftwood, but moderately cool river driftwood.

What would I have to do to a piece of wood from the river to make it safe for my kingsnake's cage? Put it in the dishwasher? Soak it in a bleach solution?

Thanks in advance.

i always collect wood and stones from my local parks and beaches for muy kings furnishings as commercial cork bark and the likes can be quite expensive.
I have found the best way to prepare your salvage is to scrub with a mild bleach solution and rinse thoroughly, this can be left in a warm cupboard to dry for a few days but i prefer)more for the time)to stick it in the oven on low heat 100f or so for a couple of hours then allow to cool before placing in the enclosure.
Hope that helps
