boaphile question

tim21087 Aug 01, 2007 04:14 PM

So as I've posted before I was planning on building my own viv and rack. This has since fallen through as i have no free time, with work and now school starting up again, to purchase supplies and actually build the new viv.

I have since looked into purchasing a viv. I decided to go with a boaphile because everyone here seems to love them, and because I can get the heat source and thermostat from the same people. Are there any problems with these vivs that I may have not heard about?

I had a couple of questions for you because you are all very helpful and I always take your opinions into consideration in matters concerning my snakes.

First off I was wondering how large, what dimensions, I would need for my single CRB. I've heard anywhere from 3x2(6 square feet) to 4x2(8 square feet). This is a large jump in price. I'm willing to buy the bigger one if I need to but I was wondering which of these is best for my snake? And does it need to be 17.5' tall or is it ok if it's shorter, like the 11.5" model?

Sorry for the long post, I'll take any suggestions you may have for me. Thank you for any help you guys are the best.

two.

It involved a unit being damaged in one way or another during shipment.

It is to be noted that Jeff Ronne (boaphile) made good on it immediately after being told. Stand up guy.

Although, I have heard that he is sometimes tough to get in touch with and was told that the best way is to call him at a reasonable hour.

good to do business with, oh yeah, one more thing, someone said it takes awhile to get the cages if you order a large quanity.

True ????

Not sure.......

those aren't bad at all as he replaced the cages and I'm only going to be ordering one.

one more quick question for you: since I only have the one CRB to house in it what viv. dimensions would be the best for her?

pros cons
pros ther awesome lol
seriously tho no matter if you order one or 1000 it will take some time on orders also pending what kind you all order and what time of year it is etc.
it is hard to get ahold of him via e-mail but if you call durring buisness hours you are more than likely gonna reach him no problem if not leave a msg. i have not heard of shipping damage yet but that could happen no matter what cage builder but he does pack cages better than any1 i have seen yet. big bubble wrap on every side wrapped 3 times. i have had one small problem but once got ahold of him (took two days my work times were hard to work around calling wee had to setup a time that worked for both of us) he took care of it i think betetr than any company would of. umm whatelse
as far as cage size i honestly would personaly recomend the 3X2X18 you can even order the one with the removable perches(my rainbows love em) but also a 3X2X12 would work but i like the extra hieght.

Thanks for the info. I have another quick question for you. Did you buy the heat source from boaphile as well and if so what type did you purchase? Also is the double thermostat needed or would I be fine with just the single?

with the baby racks heat comes with it and with the cages you have to pay extra but not much. with my boaphile cages i ordered mine with the 2.5 heat i think it was i live in wisconsin and get some super cold winters. i did not order a thermostat from there tho since i had some extras but they are ranco that i use with mine and i got 8 cages hooked to one so i dont think you will need the double lol. i also use helix but that is bein used for my incubator at the moment as long as my other helix is used on my baby rack from boaphile.

Love the boaphile cages. Yeah Jeff is hard to reach via email, he just does not have the time to answer. Jeff DOES answer his phone during business hours. I have had a damaged cage and he made good on it right away!!!

I don't care for the ranco thermostats though. Do like the helix DBS1000 for a single application and love the Herpstat Pro for multiple t-stats (4) built into one unit with all the bells and whistles built in.
