Hi
Have you tried giving him baby asprin? My litle Totto dog (wizard of Oz looking terrier) he broke his back leg, he was so sad sounding, the vet told me to give him baby asprin, I can't remeber how much I was suppose to give him, this was like 7rs ago, but I gave it to him in a peice of hotdog, any kind of treat he liked so he would take it, most of the time he still found it and spit it out, but,,after awhile he would get it down LOL,,hope he feels better soon,
Shannon

poor baby...I had a dog when I was little that broke her leg in a car door. I think my mom gave her baby asprin as well. Doesn't hurt to ask your vet. Now on the other hand, my current dog, who is a 10 year old schnauzer has a bad back. She takes Rimadyl, which is a really good pain reliever for dogs. The vet will definetly have that.
That is what she is on ... the Rimadyl

Yes, when she starts to have back pain, I immediately give her 1/2 of a Rimadyl pill. I think it is pain killer for animals with arthritis, but you could ask your vet if it will work for your dogs pain.
Good luck!!
hey Lisa,
sorry to see your little dog has broke it's leg.
Not to worry though. They are resiliant.
I had a Lab puppy that broke his leg and had it in a cast.
After a few days he got over the pain and started using his cast to get attention.
He would lay on the kithen floor and pick his leg up with his mouth and let the cast "thump" on the floor. He would keep thumping until he got attention.
