Kinda a devestating day today.
It has been 5 days since my first corn hatched and 2 days since all completly emerged. I had 2 large eggs left over so I made small starter incisions. I was greeted by a putrid smell from both. Upon inspection. Both eggs contained deformed babies, both with kinks and even one anery that looked completlly different from the rest of the batch. Maybe even a ghost? Both babies were deseased and one even had a large eye and a small eye.
In my sadness I flushed both down the toilet before I was tempted to take pics and dwell on these two forever.
Now as if that was not bad enough. I go to check on the mom of this batch who has not been eating latly, and find her in the nest box with 3 slugs so far.
Just a real bad day altogether.
