If I remember correctly then the mites found on reptiles are reptile specific. This doesn't mean you couldn't see them crawling on them if they invaded the cage. Most mites won't bother the reptiles though. If you dig through your wood chips I am sure you can find at least one tank infested with wood mites!

chicken and mice mites/ticks/lice won't infect snakes at all. They may crawl on them and maybe bite them..but for the most part they won't even recognize the snake as food.
Though if you have alot of chicken and mice mites running around, best to treat those mites..not healthy for them either..if the infestation is high.

...mice can be carriers of snake mites if they are kept in close proximity to infected reptiles. For a very short time i was getting live rodents from a breeder, that is no longer around, who also kept reptiles, long story short i found snake mites in my shipments of rodents.

grrrrr. It just bugs me that anything you do, doesnt seem to prevent infestation.
Clean cages, quarantine snakes, regular checks, washing hands between handling.
Now, feeding the snakes can cause it. Cleaning the cages can cause it. Its sooo frustrating.
Mites SUCK. We should find a way to eliminate them all permanently! lol.
