Tarahumara Boa gives birth

Lepidusman Aug 02, 2007 08:54 AM

Our Tarahumara boa gave birth to 14 babies (2 stills / 3 slugs). Her first breeding as well as her mates first. She is just barely 48" and 5yrs old, her mate 30" and 3 yrs old. Also a pic of one of her babies we may holdback.

Looks like a fine pile of babies. That one does look like a keeper to me. How large are the babies btw?

Babies came out at barely 14" or so. The male is from Rio Bravo and the female was from a breeder in El Paso, she ended up as a rescue since his girlfriend tried to kill her by dumping acid on her back. She fully recovered .. obviously. I'll post some pics of mom and dad.

Here are the parents to the babies. The female looks like crap right now.. of course most females do after giving birth to children.. especially potential of 19 of them..lol. You can see her scar on her back, she is normally much brighter in color but she won't be back to that until her post shed in a few weeks. The male is a spectacular specimen, and a great breeder.. he barely spans 30". More pics later when the babies shed out.. see which stay a resident !

Happy herpin

WOW, that's some serious scarring. Glad to hear she's doing fine. Your male is very nice looking. I love the size diffrence in comparison to the normally kept boas. I can't wait to see some of the new ones.

The male is comical to watch breed, very intent on the last 12" of the female. I don't think during the entire courtship did his head ever get close to hers..lol At least he knows what end to take care of
