sneezing snake

balisong Aug 02, 2007 11:08 AM

I posted this also in the general snake forums, but I need answers fast. My grey-banded kingsnake has been sneezing now for 3 days. Supposedly they do this before shedding and he is getting ready to shed. The sneezes are not strong, his back does not arch, he is not lethargic, he moves just fine, he flicks his tongue often and rapidly, his mouth is not open, he is not salivating, he does not have excess mucus, and has no problem digesting. His cage is always kept clean, I clean it at the end of each month, disinfect his hides and furniture as well and every other week I disinfect his water bowl (I always wait until the disinfectant is fully dried and aired out before placing my snake in his cage). So my question is how can I help him get better? Should I raise his cage temps? It has been unusually humid recently, could this be the cause? Is he only sneezing because he's about to shed?
All responses will be appreciated.

It really was just him shedding. I can not even describe how relieved I am.
