VA Press x2: Man Bitten Breaks Silence

Aug 02, 2007 11:16 AM

WTVR (Richmond, Virginia) 02 August 07 Man Bitten By Cobra Breaks His Silence
He could have died after his pet snake decided to bite him. Now he's facing criminal charges for having the venomous reptile as a pet.
The man, who doesn't want to be identified, says owning a cobra is not the brightest thing he's ever done. But he wants to set the record straight. He says at no time were any of his neighbors in danger.
The reptile attacked him Sunday and the man had to be hospitalized because of the venom. He tells the CBS 6 that the pain was like a knife repeatedly stabbing his arm and the blade twisting in the wounds. He faces a misdemeanor charge of owning an exotic animal in Chesterfield.
So why does he own a poisonous snake? He says he's allergic to dogs and cats. But the next time he ownsit'll be outside of Chesterfield, and he'll use tools instead of his hands to handle it.

WTVR (Richmond, Virginia) 01 August 07 Cobra Attack In Chesterfield
Charges are pending against a Chesterfield man bitten by his pet cobra. The albino monacle cobra has venom strong enough to kill an adult. Chesterfield Animal Control officers say that same kind of snake bit a man Sunday who kept it as a pet at his Trailview Circle Apartment. Keeping an exotic animal as a pet in Chesterfield is a misdemeanor, punishable by a fine. The cobra is now in a safe undisclosed location. Officials are still looking to permanently place it in the proper environment.

Hmmm lets see here...he says he is allergic to dogs and cats, so he kept a cobra. There are lots and lots of nonvenomous snakes to keep that would be much safer for someone who sounds like they do not belong owning a hot. This is further illustrated when he said something along the lines of "next time I will use tools to handle the snake." So I gues we are to assume he was freehandling his cobra.

Sorry, the actual quote was "next time...he'll use tools instead of his hands to handle it." definately NOT a person who belongs owning hots.
