Provent A Mite ?'s

mandk Aug 02, 2007 11:24 AM

I recently purchased 2 normal adult female balls from someone...they claimed to be parasite free, but upon arrival I noticed a few mites on both. I contacted the seller who said he had not noticed them but did offer a small partial refund which was nice, but now I have to fight mites. I ordered a can of Prevent A Mite...just wanting to make sure that it takes care of all stages of mites and I have both girls quarantined away from my collection and was also wondering about how long to keep treating them and their enclosures. Thanks!

Follow the directions on the bottle.

I repeat the treatment again on about a month...that should take care of the mite problem completely. I don't think Provent a Mite does anything to eggs..but will kill mites as soon as they emerge.

If the snakes are in brand new cages (ie you bought them without their main cage), one treatment should be enough as any mites on them, will be killed after the first treatment.

As a precaution, I pre treat snake cages for all new additions to my collection.

And your BP can thank you for being a dedicated owner that listened and was willing to make the necessary changes for them to thrive.

Usually one treatment is enough it depends on how severe the infestation is, if not sufficient you can treat the enclosure again 2 weeks after the first treatment. I would also recommend you to treat the rest of your collection as mites could have got onto your cloth and get in your establish collection.
