information on grapes, I guess. My two females, Ruby and Greta, stopped their gasping and sneezing when I began giving the Baytril. Nothing at all. Ten days later, I gave them one of their favorite treats...thoroughly washed diced grapes. Immediately Greta began gasping with her mouth open and Ruby began sneezing. I don't know what to think.

Hi Maureen, hope the girls will be okay :0)

Some grapes seem to be toxic to some dogs and pets , they don't know why yet, but many seem to have kidney failure and other sickness from them. Here's just one article about it, theres a lot of different articles on the net just type in grapes toxic to dogs/pets, and it's everywhere.
Grapes toxic to dogs and other pets?

Thank, Eve! A friend suggested that "wet" grapes may get into the lungs. Generally, Chucks wouldn't come across juicy stuff in the wild, so perhaps they're not well equipped to keep water out of their windpipes! Generally, mine have not taken to wet food at all. Just grapes. (Now a thing of the past!)

Hey Eve,

I give a LOT of grapes to my rhino ig and red tegu. They both LOVE them, and unlike Maureen's chucks, don't start gasping or SEEM to have any negative effects from grapes. They've both consumed them for a long time and are doing well. Would you think it's safe to feed grapes to these non-desert lizards?

The question comes to mind, would wild dogs ever eat grapes? Maybe grapes simply aren't part of their natural diet. Tegus and rhino iguanas are known to be fruit-eaters, naturally.

I guess if they have eaten them all this time, hehehhee they must be okay with them.

I never gave them to any or my lizards, just becuase I really didn't think about them, but I have had a squirrel for almost 5 years and he devours them

Hey hows your girl doing?

Taking her in to see the vet on Tuesday morning. She's doing OK for now, at least on the outside. Still think there's an egg left inside. We'll see pretty soon. Thanks for asking!

My babies are doing great. Just like Tom Greb said, it took a month to get going, but now they're typical chuckie piglets. Little dolls.

About the grapes, I have a C. palearis that loves them on the rare occasion when I get them for him. However I had white grapes that grew wild in my yard and my dog TANK...He's a rottie mix would eat them and go nuts! He acted drunk so I think it depends on how ripe the grape is.
