Tri hog breeders-a question.....

BRhaco Aug 02, 2007 06:29 PM

Just a brief survey-what's the highest and lowest incubation temperatures you've used and what were the results as far as egg mortality and incubation period?

Thanks to all who respond!

Brad, I have had (4) clutches hatch so far which have been incubated at 78 degrees. The first clutch all (9) eggs hatched with the first coming out around 80 days. The second clutch hatched (7) out of (8) eggs. One egg was full term but did not slit the egg and was dead when I opened it. They took 81 days I believe for the first one to leave the egg and then it was 4 more days or so for the rest.

The third clutch hatched (11) from (11) eggs with the same scenario, 80 plus days and over several days when they started. The fourth clutch hatched (7) from (9) eggs. Two were fully formed and dead in shell when I opened them.

Clutch (1) and (3) were from pr #1 and clutch (2) and (4) were from pr #2.

The fifth clutch has (2) hatchlings out so far after 81 days for the first one I believe and the second one didn't come out until three days later. There are (11) eggs left with (8) all slitting today.

I have two more clutches to go after this one.
