Saturday will be two months since my mom passed away. Today when I came home for lunch I found my 3yr old honduran dead. Although it hit me pretty hard I saw something that puzzles me. Ive seen several snakes pass away and 80% of the time they bite themselves. Is this a nerve reation or what?
I've noticed that also. I don't know what makes them do that. My guess is while in the process of expiring, they are writhing and contorting their bodies with some mouth gaping. The body gets hungup on some teeth and remains in that position. Just a guess.

I'm sorry to hear that... we recently lost one of our snakes (a green tree python)... it's never nice to find one of your animals and realize it's not moving.
That, and so soon after dealing with a much bigger loss! I've been there as well. Time, and remembering the good times will help a little, try to keep positive...
