D3 vitamins bad?

chipstahoy Aug 19, 2003 03:41 PM

i've heard from someone at a petstore that supplementing your crickets with d3 vitamins for your leopard gecko could eventually cause calcium buildup and calcium deposits, and maybe even eventually killing your leo. now, i have some "cricket dust" that i'm starting to use (I just got a new baby leo a week ago) and it's d3, so i was wondering if anyone knew about or had experienced anything like calcium deposits or whatnot because of d3. if you have any helpful info concerning d2-d4 vitamin supplements, please let me know. sorry if this has already been covered recently; i tried to look to see if it had, but i didn't find anything. thanks

calcification of the internal organs is rare, but does happen. i think we will see more of it as the leopard gecko baby boom grows up.

i apply supplements sparingly; once every couple of weeks is sufficient.
