Could be any number of things. Going from your info...

No slime or goo, rules out a slug litter that she ate. Also rules out having already had her babies...duh.

Could be re-absorption of unfertilized ova. Could be she just looks smaller. Has there been another shed? Could still be babies coming, maybe just re-adjusted how she is carying them.

Only sure fire way to know is simply wait and see. I know....suck a$$ answer.

If they were easy, then everyone would be breeding them and they'd be as common as corns and balls.

And good to have you back even tho your still as useless lol. geesh X mount of days = 1000 photos to make up better make it snappy lol good to have ya back

Can you post a pic of her?

I have had snake resorb infertile ova but they usually do it much earlier in the process. I doesn't happen days before they give birth.

Can you describe her behavior? After the post-ov shed, gravid BRBs will basically curl up and hide for 4 months or so. A week before they give birth, they will become active again. They will cruise the cage looking for a place to give birth. This action may also help reposition the babies. Most females refuse food during gestation and especially this close to parturition.

If she's due on the 10th (110 days?), and has been active already, that's a bad sign. Try to feed her. If she eats, another bad sign.

Possibly, it's nothing. If she refuses food and has remained inactive, you may want to get some baby tubs ready for the 10th.

you say if she is due on the tenth and is active already bad sign why you say that 110 days and beginning to be active a week before lay.

flavor Aug 03, 2007 03:29 PM

It's only a week to 5 days prior to giving birth that the females start becoming active. If she starts cruising the cage tonight, then you're in good shape. if she just started becoming active within the last few days, things may be O.K. still. If she's been cruising the cage for weeks, then I'd say you're not going to see babies this year.

I'm still pulling for you. I hope to see a nice fat clutch on the 10th.

last night was her most for cruisin night before was a very short look around before that was two diff spots for the past months not much action at all

flavor Aug 03, 2007 10:57 PM

O.K. it sounds like you might still be in good shape. I read your other post (to Jeff). Bob is right. A color shift to brown is a good sign. The complete lack of appetite for the past month is another one.

Free up some space. It sounds like you'll have some new mouths to feed in a week or so.

Tim,
...This really is not an exact science and it can be very frustrating. I have had many times that females were bred and then looked and acted gravid for months even not feeding and then they passed a very large dark messy stool and no babies. Most Boa "experts" say that these snakes cannot resorb ova from their oviducts but I think that is what does happen. I have also seen them look and act gravid for a couple months without eating and then begin eating and acting normal and not lay babies. What has your snake eaten during the last few months? Did it look like the weight moved aft over the last few months with the front half of the body looking emaciated? What you describe is different than my typical "failed" reproductions with these snakes so it is hard to tell what is going on. Only some of the Pythons are easy to breed. Some of them are tougher than these snakes. If breeding these snakes was easy everyone would be producing so many babies that we would have to give them away.
Jeff

hey jeff she has been eating very tiny lil rats every random feeding not often at all and this past eh monthish has been nothing. for the most part she literaly sat in 2 spots durring this whole thing. and now in the past 2 nights she has been incresingly active specialy at night and if i go into give her new water she will come at me like she is insain. before (durring other months of "preg" she would just get super aware and huff at me and this is the same snake that anybody could open cage reach in and pet lol. i have a 14X14X7 tub in there and that is one of the spots she lays often but last night she was ontop of the top with tail in middle kinda like she was practicing? lol also i dont know if it matters or meens anythign but her color has been really dark since she has been with the boy. almost like a brown color. im sure i forgot to answer a question or two but youll ask more probly after reading this. oh her body type before it was plump in the middle and back scales as to where it was slighty seperated throughout and front half deff skinnier than back. now she is more even out but still has slight scale seperation goin on

strictly4fun Aug 03, 2007 03:31 PM

experience breeding boas as Willy Wonka but I believe that the sign that they are gonna shed soon being that she is dark is a good sign from reading posts on the boa forum. Best of luck with her and drink an energy drink or two before you try to remove mom after delivery so she don't get you haha lol
