Help with caging for my JCP and future

maddogg1990 Aug 03, 2007 11:42 AM

Hello I purchased a JCP in April and am unsure of sex, but he's about 4' Give or take and I have him/her in a 20L. I'm in the process of building/buying custom reptile cages. I'm doing a multi-cage unit for my present and future herps. It's going to have One 5' Long, Two 3' Long, and Two 2' Long cages. All of the cages will be 30" Deep and 2' Tall. My question is as an adult can I house the JCP in the 3' Long cages? I would also like to get a nice bredli or Diamond Cross Python soon and was hoping I could keep them in the other 3' Cage. Would this work, or would I need to make the cage bigger for these pythons? Also I'm thinking of having a custom built fiberglass backround for the cages with a water feature and Pool. How big would the pool have to be for the pythons to happily immerse themselves? Thanks for the help

Many people do, but I don't feel comfortable offering less than 4x2x2 for long term maintenance.

Yea to be honest I feel bad having a 6' snake in an enclosure half it's size. It's just tough because I have a 10' X 12' room to work with, which has some furniture in it so I might make the system I have then take out the 3' cages and have the 5'Long cage stack and next to it the 3'Long stack.
