TPW doesn't belong in NACLEC

Joe Forks Aug 03, 2007 03:22 PM

they are totally opposite the core concept of the organization, read:

Core Concepts

Integrity, Purpose, Commitment and Partnership

The Association knows that long term conservation success requires the active involvement of a diverse assembly of conservationists, sportsmen, and individuals with varied backgrounds and beliefs. We hold paramount the trust and responsibilities placed in us by our members, colleagues, partners and the public.

As an organization and individually, we work in a cooperative manner, emphasizing collaborative efforts among our members and drawing on the best available conservation science and research to guide our members.

Who ever heard of a state wildlife department with such a pervasive and totally unfounded (in science or ethics) BIAS against a group of legitimate sportsmen? As a new Texas resident, I'm astounded and, for the first time, ANGRY. I frankly doon't care if these guys have twenty-year-old axes to grind!Present day herpers are responsible, law-abiding citizens who, frankly, care far more about herp conservation and study than most at TPW.

We MUST fight this to the end, and INSIST on science and data-based regulation of ALL our natural heritage-especially nongame wildlife. Clearly, TPW needs some new blood at the top. It's clear to all now what we previously suspected-that they lobbyed illegally for this legislation.
