My season is done.

Didn't quite turn out the way I hoped (at all), but oh well, it was still fun. I had 5 clutches totaling 30 eggs. They broke down like this:

Clutch #1, 5 eggs - 2 male Cinnies, 2 female Cinnies, 1 female Normal (This had me thinking it was the beginning of a very exciting few months.)

Clutch #2, 7 eggs - 1 Cinny (died before completely exiting the egg.) The rest were normals, and 1 of those also died shortly after exiting the egg.

Clutch #3, 8 eggs - 1.2 Cinnies, 2 male Normals, 3 female Normals.

Clutch #4, 3 eggs - 1 male Cinny, 2 female Normals.

Clutch #5 just hatched, 7 eggs - 1 nice female Cinny, 4 male Normals, 2 female Normals.

Since 2 died, it lowers my total to 28 eggs. My ratio was 9 Cinnies, 19 Normals. Sex ratio is right on though, 14.14. Anyway, just felt like doing a little wrap-up. Just because co-doms are supposed to give you 50/50 doesn't mean that's a guarantee. But, I do have 3 awesome female Cinnies to raise up. Hope my ratio is better on super Cinnies in a couple years. Now I need to get rid of all these freakin normal babies. What am I supposed to do with those?

Put 'em up on Craigslist for adoption at $20 each. That's what I did, and all are gone now.

I agree. BUT local pet stores sell their crap for $79-$89. I wasn't about to ask that price, I'm trying to encourage people to buy captive bred animals -- I aim to take business away from those stores, I don't want people buying farmed skinny snakes that are housed 50 to a tank in filthy substrate and mites all over them. I know the animals will suffer, but the fewer people that buy them, the fewer the store will keep bringing in. I'm really pleased with all the people that bought my babies this year -- they all took the time to go out and get the proper equipment based on shopping lists I gave them before coming over to pick up their snakes. All my babies went to really great people who seemed really interested in learning the proper way to do things.

Ya I am actually am selling them to a pet store for $20-$30 they said they would rather pay a little more and not make as much money to have fat healthy eating babies I am sure they more than make up for by not having to refund money because a snake died never ate ect. not to mention HAPPY costumers

Not the best of odd's but you still have a handfull of Cinnies. As for the normals I would keep the females and sale off the males localy.

your odds still blow mine away for cinnys.

C1 6 eggs-2.2 pastels, 2.0 normals
C2 6 eggs-0.2 pastels, 0.1 normal, 1 dead egg, 1 dead in egg, 1 died after it hatch (black back)
C3 8 eggs-1.0 cinny, 3.4 normals
C4 4 eggs (from a 3000 g girl) 1.0 cinny, 1.1 normal, 1 dead egg

So 12 cinny eggs. 1 dead egg. 2.0 cinny. 4.5 normal. At least you got a few females. I have 1 more cinny and 3 spider x normal clutches left though. Hopefully odds get better. I think 2 more clutches on the way also. Maybe a clown x albino (but I don't think so) and a pastel x normal with outstanding het pied markers!

Better luck next year.
