New business in TN

bigwill0630 Aug 03, 2007 05:34 PM

I am opening a reptile shop. I was wanting to know if anyone had any pointers. Also I was wanting to breed ball python morphs. I already have some pairs of balls but looking for others.

Thanks
Will

I would love it if a new reptile store would open in TN. Then I would have more options. DO IT!

Focus on attracting customers with your feeder rats, mice, crickets, etc. and this will help you grow a steady, repeat customer base.

Keep your overhead as low as possible.

Good luck!

Sell the shop immediately for half of what you paid for it, throw the inventory in for free, and thank God you got out ahead of the game

If there is anything else I can help with...I am always free for consultation.

People think you are going to make all this money selling animals. Truth is you are going to spend ALL your time caring for rodents so you can sell them to pay your electric bill.
Very few store front shops that only sell reptiles succeed. Most deal in many things including pet trade supplies, fish, etc.
I have had a couple friends/aquaintances that have had shops and they all say they wish they would have never done it.
You can have greater success with a good website and sell quality snakes on the web.
There is probably a 75% chance you will lose money....and quick!
