Cant you get them up off that...cypress I beliee? If you cant get a hold of some eggcrate, I would double or triple fold that screen that came with the Havobator and get them up off the substrate.

Go to Jay Martins website and then go to articles and read up on Havobators.

About the eggs, did you check to see if they were fertile to begin with? I dont know if I would term that as rotting...

I belive its called candling. Put a flashlight to the eggs and check for veins. They will come off as red lines around the egg. I'm not absolutly which kind of flashlight, but I'm sure somebody can point you in the right direction. I'm kind of new to thhis also so I hope I'm giving you the right information. Good Luck!

Any little flashlight will do. I use a little one with a bright blue LED one on a key chain. I got it in the dollar store for - you guessed it!!

Somebody recently had some really nice candeling photos. You can either search through the archives, or go to this site, its really good for breeding info.

And Joker I forgot to mention that your freaking killing me. I have this really cool female that I have been trying to get to ovulate for the past 3 1/2 years to no avail! You on the other hand buy a snake, that is really a female when they say it is and not just a male that someone is unloading, and your biggest problem is that eggs keep falling out of her....I hate you (only kidding!). LOl and keeo us posted.

Too bad you couldnt trade those 5 torpedos back in for 2 or 3 nice plump ones- huh? How many do you think you will net from that clutch?

Also, I will take it right now. I have been debating getting rid of her to make room, but I think I am going to try again this fall. This year was kinda wacky (weather and cycling wise) for me, so I am going to give her a mulligan.

She is the grayish one on top.

Clear this up.. you put the eggs in an egg crate? On on some of the white "egg crate" diffuser that's normally used in flourescent lighting fixtures that you can buy at Lowes?

And you do know that the eggs have an UP and DOWN side, and that putting eggs upside down is a bad idea?

The eggs you think are rotting just looks like calcification to me. If they get mold growing on them, then it's probably game over for that particular egg, although it wont harm a live egg next to it (the have their own immune systems).

I mark the egss with a light pencil X mark when I remove them from the female so I know which side is up. I do NOT flip them ever and always keep the X on top.

The eggcrate is the diffuser stuff from a light fixture and many people use it to keep their eggs off the substate and dry. You want to use an egg box to keep the humidity up, unless you have a small incubator where humidity wont be a problem. I use the egg box myself.

No...no...no.. DO NOT put the eggs in a egg crate from a dozen eggs!! You want to use the eggcrate stuff that is sold in Home Depot or Lowes for a florescent(sp?) light fixture. Do NOT flip the eggs, keep them always the same side up.

joker122104 Aug 04, 2007 06:11 AM

yea i havent flipped them at all they have been the same way since they go out as for the egg crate its not from a dozen eggs i got it from home depot a while back ill see if i post pics later on today to see if i have the incubator set up better thanks for all the help

They just look too wet for me. Keep them that wet and they will die. Hurry up and get them out of the wet spot.

I agree....they are too wet and you need to get them up off the moisture. Too much water will kill eggs.
