Black Headed GBK

I have this black headed Blair's that I bought last year and I was wondering if there was something "special" about that trait. I've only seen a few others with black heads and even the guys I've talked to at shows say they haven't seen many. Is this a trait displayed by a particular locality? Is it really uncommon? Is this something that has come about through selective breeding, perhaps? And, if so, is it worth my time to try and find a mate and produce my own (I'm concentrating on my hondos and puebs right now)?

Black heads are a natural trait, usually an eastern trait (val Verde county) but are not form a specific locality. I would definitely try to pair it up with a black head snake but if you pair it up with a Juno rd. or 277 animal you should get some percentage with black heads. These snakes pictured here are juno roads and were produced by Bob A. That is a really nice snake by the way!

I don't know if i would call it a rare trait.. but, there are some people that prefer black caps.

This Loma Alta female (bottom pic) has given me 13 eggs for the past 5 years straight and about 6 hatchlings each year have black caps.. Although, the male that i pair her with is not have a black cap.

The top pic is one of her hatchlings from last year..

Roy Engeldorf at the Outback found a really nice one around Sanderson this year. Drop him an email and I bet he'll send you a pic.
