My share of the babies DUW

rainbowsrus Aug 04, 2007 03:49 AM

As many of you already know or have figured out, Mike Lockwood and I entered into a joint breeding project this year. His hypo male #2 and one of my unrelated females, Ann. The results being crossed out het for hypo babies. We worked out a plan for splitting the babies we were both happy with, 60/40(ish) split in Mikes favor. After all, he was supplying the hypo gene. With the 16 babies, 8.8 it almost worked out to a perfect 60/40 split. The "extra" one baby going to Mike. for 5.5 to Mike and 3.3 to me. But wait, Mike hasn't let you all know he found another baby while cleaning the cage, another male. That one went to me...woohoo, thanks Mike. So final s[plit was 5.5 to Mike and 4.3 to me.

Major thanks to Mike!!!! I feel very fortunate to live so close and have Mike as a friend / fellow breeder. So cool to get to see all his collection in person.

That is so cool. I'm glad you guys were able to do this and work something out that you are both happy with. I bet you are more than happy to have some of those genes in your collection. They are some awsome looking babies.

What's up with Male Het Hypo 2? It looks like there is some sand or something on the back part of his body. I hope that that's what it is.

Would you move my name onto the list for their future babies? If I start saving now, I could probably get it paid off by the time they get here. Just kidding.
Great looking babies
Rob

The funny part is we were planning on doing two females but two of the "females" I sent over turned out to be males. when I bought them as babies years ago, I never sexed them (at the time was having my babies sexed for me) and just took them at the labeled sex. Ann on the other hand was a perfect breeding. Mike put his male with her, wham bam thank you ma'am and it was all over except for the waiting. She was only bred the one time.

Like Mike said, that discoloring is most likely just a "stain" in the outer layer(s) of skin. Sometimes just happens in babies. It extends around the body and is even on some belly scales. Looks like he drug himself through urates.

And like I said, Mike is a really great guy. An honorable and fair person!!!

Thanks for the props Dave. I'm glad that you're happy with the babies.

Rob, you're right. There is some discoloration on that particular male. I'm not sure what it is. I've seen it in babies in the past and I believe it will disappear with the first shed. If not, Dave and I will need to renegotiate

Mike is a nice guy and great to do business with and congrats on your new additions Dave. That's not right that you have babies from another male in the snake room before your own are dropping but being those are het hypos you can let them slide huh lol
