Pearl honduran - some questions

aberrant Aug 04, 2007 10:38 AM

Can somebody answer my few questions ?

How does a amelanistic, anerythristic and hypomelanistic honduran looks like ?
is it a solid white snake ?
or is it a white - yellow banded animal?
is a pearl an anerythristic Typ A or Typ B animal?
Is a pearl that what a Bli´zzard Cornsnake is ?

Hoping somebody brings a little light into this -

Today my first TriColor Hybino is out of the egg -
pics will coming soon-
thanks for the answers i will get here !

We don't know yet what a "pearl" will look like? I coined the name a few years ago as we only knew it would be a triple homozygous that would just actually be a hypo snow.
I am pretty sure it will look NO different than a normal snow.I am sure the hypo will be masked and there is probably a couple (maybe) pearls already floating around from triple het clutches.
The only real way to know if a snow is actually a pearl is if both parents were hypo or better yet ghosts.
with a pair of hypos dbl-het for snow or a pair of ghosts het albino you would know the second the snow pipped that it was a pearl.

A blizzard corn is the product of a anery b (charcoal) bred to amels. in gophers and bulls the blizzards are from axanthics and amels.
Now,you asked about anery type a and b? I am not aware of any other line of anery in the honduran hobby at this time but I am sure if there was it would alter both the snows and the ghosts just like the different (even though compatible)types of hypos alter the looks of ghosts.

Hope this helps.

one thing is for sure,a pearl corn is worth so much to a breeder cause he/she never again would produce possible hets.Every morph it was bred to would breed true and be 100% het for the other morphs.
A single pearl male could (and will) replace five or six males in a collection and all the babies would be homo or 100% hets.
I am working on makeing pearls with the extreme gene as well as we speak.

This raises a question of my own.

My tangerine hypos threw 2 snows. I was unaware they were het for anything. So does that make them double hets (albino & anery). If so how is it the hatchlings only came out as snows and not one displaying a single trait such as an albino or an anery?

I didn't think they could be actually het for snow as it is a combination of the two traits and simply would make the double hets?

Am I mistaken?

If you produced snows from two hypos you have pearls and they are the first visual known pearls so far. I bet your hypos came from Terry Dunham cause I also have a couple that are het anery and amel. He actually sold them for a couple years het for albino and wasn't aware that they were possible het anery.

Anyway, please post a pic of them so we can see what a "pearl" looks like.
Thanks,
shannon

I picked them up from Don Shores. The snows were didn't survive but I have a pic of the snake in the egg. There were 2 out of the 6 eggs. I have a second clutch from the same pairing.

I can not edit the size of the pic, but I will send it to you.

OK - many thanks so far - I `m also interested in the pics.
The reason I asked based on differnt snow specimen I saw.

The first ones, I would described as clean white with yellow rings (the yellow bands were the black ones by the "nominate" -

the second typ is also white & yellow banded, but the white is looking a little pinkisch even at adults -

I `m not sure if this difference caused by the differnt bloodlines or on what else.

by the end of 2010 I will be known how a pearl is looking - the one & only Hybino this year hatched is hetero for anerythristic..
.... a long time - but it is on focus.

Pictures will be post after first sheeding and if time.

I will see if I can re size one of Anthony's pics they are really large in pixels.
Snows looking different is nothing new.Just think of all the different looking amels and anerys that are out there.
