Another ASF Rat Question...

artinscales Aug 05, 2007 09:59 AM

Can they be housed in the same rack as rats? Not in the same tub, but in their own tub in the rack with the rats. My main concern would be the health of the rats and the asf rats, being that close to each other. Just being cautious....

Thank you.

If you are wanting to breed ASF rats don't try it in rat tubs. The baby ASF rats are so small they will easily get between the bars. You would be best advised to breed them either in glass tanks or smooth sided plastic tubs with quarter inch mesh tops.
The close proximity to rats would not be a problem.

Housing shouldn't be a problem. Our rat rack uses cat litter boxes with 1/4 inch mesh on top and an automatic watering system. Our main concern was if one would make the other sick. Thanks for the info.
