Outcome on the corn/rat

snakeguy88 Aug 19, 2003 05:37 PM

I took it to the herp store owner (a big dealer of exotics/natives and is going to be a guest speaker at the IHS for credentials) and he assured me 100% it is a corn. So did the others that work under him. So there you go. Slip...I am waiting for my apology as are the rest of the people here. Andy

Im glad you found the identity of your snake. Good luck with that beautiful corn, you gonna breed it?..i'd be interested in babies somewhere down the line.

I actually just started thinking about that. Before I was considering giving it back to my friend who was the "middlegirl" in the deal. She really likes it. But I will promise her a different snake...one that will start out a little healthier (this thing is obese lol). But after all the reponses telling me what a great snake it is (even a guy that breeds corns that was in the herp store today) I am keeping it I guess (never thought I would find myself stooping so low . LOL. I will let you know what comes of it and if I find a female. Andy

...it looks exactly like a Black Mamba - except it's shorter, stouter, different color, and the head is shaped different.

Actually, the one I was thinking of is the Brown House snake, which is common throughout southern Africa. The color's the same, but the house snake has vertical eye pupils. So that ain't it. Gotta be Pantherophis!
