Metallic rat snakes????????

Anyone out there have pics from Bairdi that they have purchased from Vivid? He's asking some serious money for his line of offspring. I'm just kind of curious how they turn out for you folks that have purchased some.

That is one nice baird Steve! I've seen some pictures people posted of their vivid line and they were nice but I dont think they get any better than the one in your picture.
Are you coming to Daytona? Randy

Yup........I'll be there. We'll be looking out for you!

Vivid certainly isn't cheap, but he produces some great looking animals. It's true that there are many folks out there selling bairdi's for significantly less. Problem with bairdi is, that you don't know what you're buying unless you know the breeder's stock. It's always a big disappointment to see a bairdi turn into one of those not so great looking drab colored phases, after an investment of about two or maybe even three years of your precious time. With Vivid at least you know what you'll get, whether or not that's worth the extra bucks is up to you.

You've got some great looking bairdi's, BTW.

Certainly nothing wrong with paying top dollar for offspring of an exceptional line. I am a firm believer in paying the bucks for genetics that enhance your chance to produce "screamer" offspring. I was just curious how many "screamers" come out of any given Vivid clutch, and I was curious about how folks have done with their "luck of the draw" in recent years.

this should become a hot topic....after all genetics is a crap shoot

I'm gonna keep an eye on this thread for myself. I've wondered the same things about their stock. I'm also hoping that in a short period of time, more people will be breeding their Vivid stock and more animals will become available. The Vivid line are about the only Bairds I'm interested in buying, except now that I've seen Steve's animals, I'd be pretty stoked about offspring from them too!

If lead paint is so deadly why do they make it so delicious?

Vivid has been selling these snakes for a few years now, and I have never heard a word on this forum from someone that bought a snake from Vivid and was unhappy with their adult a year or two later. I have a feeling that Vivid’s stock does breeds true. Still, I think that part of what you are paying for is great ad copy. Come now, Metallic looking snakes?

I have a Mexican and a Texas Baird’s at this time, and I am pleased with the way they both look. Personally, I think that half the fun of raising a Baird’s is seeing how it turns out.

I would like to thank Jimmy Johnson (Draybar) for his photos that he has posted over the years. His photos turned me on to them. They are just wonderful snakes.
