butterworm problem

beachbeardies Aug 06, 2007 06:37 AM

i recently started feeding my dragons butterworms. it seems at least one if not 2 of them arent agreeing with them as i thought they would. it seems as though they are throwing them up. theres no dragon poop with the undigested betterworms, and a small pool of fluid so im assuming they are throwing them up, but i havent seen them do so. but i do know they are not being passed through the digestive track of my dragons. anyone know the reason behind this? should i continue feeding them to my dragons or just stop all together? this is the first time ive seen any of my dragons not like a certain food.

if they are regurgitating the butterworms, only a few reasons I can think of that may cause it. Feeding too many at once (dragons are notorious to wolf down a really tasty treat even to the point of over eating) If you are only offering a couple and he throws them up, could be a bad batch of butterworms, or he just doesn't like them.

I suggest not offering butterworms to your guy for a few days, to give his tummy a chance to settle down. Then, if you are offering quite a few at a sitting, just give him one or two with his normal salad and see how that goes.

I've never had that problem. Are you getting them from the silkworm supplier in CA.?

Personally I never risk anything and would stop feeding them for a while.

thanks for the info. ive stopped feeding them for now, ill try again maybe in a few days and only give em a few on top of their salads or along with other bugs.

i got em from http://www.carolinapetsupply.com first time buying from there. good prices but i wasnt happy with how it turned out. i ordered 500 and about half if not more were DOA. the company requires insurance on butterworms to be garenteed for live delivery, what a bunch of crap that is.
