I have a 3 year old female ball python in a 40 gallon breeder tank with an open top, next to a 3.5 year old male ball python in the same kind of tank. The female has recently become very active and spends almost all of her time facing the cage of the male (where normally she would lay around and "peak" out of her hide straight into the room). The male is in a shed cycle and isn't even in sight of her because of the way his hide is aligned, so she isn't seeing the movement. Is it possible that she has decided she wants to breed to him and can detect his smell? Or is this just random behavior that I am trying too hard to explain?
