First clutch!

begunwithaletter Aug 06, 2007 09:27 PM

These two girls are keepers... they are the first babies I have EVER hatched from my two original cornsnakes! I didn't even introduce them this year, since all her clutches have been duds... and I wasn't ever planning on breeding them again, since he's 13 and she's 10! So of course she's not only putting out ONE clutch with viable babies, but she's well on her way towards laying her SECOND clutch of the year!

baby a

baby b

these were the only two babies to survive the heating accident we had halfway through incubation (my fiance, who knows nothing about snakes or proper incubation, forgot to reprogram the thermostat controlling our incubator after we blew a fuse, and it ran up to 95F before I caught it). Two tiny, feisty little girls!

They're not EVER leaving me They aren't pure corns(the father is half Emory's) so even if they weren't 'sentimental keepers' I wouldn't feel right selling them.

I'm so excited!

bummer about the incubation problems, but at least you did get two nice little rootbeers.
while I was looking at the pics I thought they looked like there was emoryi in there, then I read the post and bingo there it was.

thanks Jimmy

I'm pretty impressed with their looks, since mother and father both have maybe HALF the saddles that these little ones do!

They are both settling in nicely, striking and hissing like crazy, and they have names... Whiskey and Bourbon!
