Anyone know of good snake field herping in or near Duxbury, MA (the "south shore" of Massachusetts)? I moved here a year ago and having been a city dweller, I am somewhat new to this. Within this summer, I could not believe the variety of amphibians (Plethodon cinereus, Ambystoma maculatum, Bufo americanus, Hyla versicolor, Rana catesbeiana, Rana clamitans, Rana palustris, Rana sylvatica), and turtles (Chelydra serpentina, Chrysemys picta, Terrapene carolina) I have run into, some right in my back yard. Pretty amazing stuff when the most wildlife you used to get were pigeons. However, of my favorite thing, SNAKES, I have only found one, a beautiful ringneck (Diadophis punctatus), and otherwise a few dead garters and possibly what could have been a dead water snake, all flattened by cars. I have been looking around where I would think would be the most obvious snake places (in grass and under debris, logs, rocks around cranberry bogs , which are also surrounded by woods and swamps). I mean, you would think snake central, but thus far only *one* snake, at least one that was alive. If anyone is from this town/area and has any tips, they would be much appreciated! Thanks
